Hey Guys, I'm sending this because so many of you have been generous with me in helping me to get buy. Pay Pal has made a change that everyone needs to take note of.
I had some problems with having fees attached to my personal account that normally shouldn't have been, and after a serious of phone calls, I finally got someone on the phone who explained to me what was happening. PayPal has a new upgrade in place, though they haven't yet updated the website with the fee news.
This is the key. When you pick 'send money', you type in who to, the amount, and the purchase type ... and this is the key. If you look on the box, you have the option of choosing 'purchase' or 'personal'. If you choose 'purchase' and select any of the options there, we now get charged a fee when we didn't before.
BUT if you pick 'personal' and pick any of the options, there isn't a fee. That's why now fees are being charged sometimes. There is an 'other' box under personal. There's also an option on the second page of the 'send money' option where you can check a box and pay the fees yourself.
Now, if you're using a credit or debit card, there is still a fee just like always. Please keep in mind, though, that many people have other 'funding option' choices.
When you choose 'send money' OR if you're on the website and click the 'donate' button, you'll see:
"To complete your payment, review the details below and click Donate.Visit Funding Sources to learn more about PayPal policies and your payment source rights and remedies, or to change debit card processing options."
'Funding Services' is a link. Click on it and it will explain things in detail.
However, if you review your payment, you''ll see "Payment Method:" with the amount of the donation. Below it, it will say 'change'. Click on it, and it will list what options are available to you, like 'e-check', and you just click the one you want. If you change to a non-credit/debit card source of funds, there are no fees attached.
So, that's the scoop on the PayPal change that has been driving me crazy. I swear, they are one greedy company.
One more note. If you use the 'donate' button on this website, it is set to go to my premier account, which means there is always a fee no matter what. If you know you are using a PayPal balance or that you are linked to a bank account, it would be great if you simply chose 'send money' at the PayPal site, type in my email address of marciastudley1@comcast.net, select 'donation' as the type, choose the 'personal' box, and 'gift' or 'other', and send it that way. That would be a 'no fee' transaction.
If you're confused, just go ahead and use the tab on the website. I just hate for PayPal to get all those fees.
